Rocking audiences with a celebration of life’s joys and trials, the Lower 5th shares their unique blend of Americana, which they simply call “Midwestern Soul”. Their music drifts from charged renditions of timeless classics to soulful originals that keep happy crowds singing and dancing into the night. Honored as “Best Alt/Indie Band” in the Best of Madison 2018, the Lower 5th has performed in many venues in Madison and across Southern Wisconsin, including features at Between the Waves, Charity Jamboree, Ragged Roots, the Lands End Summer Music Series, and Driftless Music Gardens. The Lower 5th has also performed support for national acts including Boyd Tinsley of the Dave Matthews Band, Gangsta Grass, and The Railsplitters. The Lower 5th is Cory Swadley (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Paul Metz (Drums/Vocals), Audrey Pescitelli (Bass/Vocals), Jeremy Henning (Trombone/Vocals) and Michael Buerger (Trumpet/Vocals). Building upon the spirit of “Hope” inspired by their late founder, singer-songwriter Luke Jorgensen, the Lower 5th welcomes all to share in the love of music and community.

From the time Corey Mathew Hart started singing at a young age, his voice has amazed audiences. “The human voice is such a wonderfully complex instrument. So often, words can fail to portray the whole meaning or idea you are trying to get across, but in song you can convey more emotion and add more depth and dimension to the written word,” says Hart. And he does just that with a voice and songs that earned Hart two MAMAs (Madison Area Music Association awards) in 2011, one for best male vocalist and the other for best Folk/Americana album. Most recently, Corey won the Overture Rising Stars competition in 2014 and has been selected as a finalist in the 2015 NewSong songwriting competition. In recent years, Hart has performed as a member of The Mascot Theory, as well as other Madison area musicians. His current band, Lost Lakes, is turning heads both locally and nationally. His latest single “Heaven Help Me” was released in November of 2022.
