Several months ago when YATES MCKENDREE and his band (including his talented father Kevin on keys) played the Red Rooster, we were absolutely gobsmacked by the echoes of the talented guitarists from the past two generations he referenced in his instrumentation. Hollywood Fats. Rick Holmstrom. Nick Curran. Sean Costello. Kenny Burrell. Then Yates moved to the Hammond B-3 organ and prevailed with flourishes that recalled Jimmy McGriff and Bill Doggett.
And…He’s already WON A GRAMMY for instrumentation and engineering on Delbert McClinton’s “Tall, Dark, & Handsome” album. He’s also contributed the “secret ingredient” to recordings for John Hiatt.
And…The Yates McKendree Band was invited to be to opener for the fall tour of Brian Setzer – and just tore up the Big Blues Bender in Las Vegas.
And…He’s just turned 22.
And…HE AND HIS BAND WANT TO PLAY AT OUR HUMBLE VENUE ON THEIR NIGHT OFF.
